On Friday, during National Deworming Day, more than 6.9 lakh individuals up to the age of 19 in Gautam Budh Nagar received albendazole tablets for deworming. Every year on February 10, the day is commemorated to ensure that every kid and adolescent in India is worm-free.
Dr. Sunil Sharma, the district CMO, launched the initiative at a public elementary school in Nithari village. Additionally, the health department will arrange a mop-up round from February 13–15 to give the medicines to everyone who did not receive them on Friday. 746 public and private schools as well as 1,108 Anganwadi facilities in GB Nagar will receive medication.
Dr. Amit Kumar, a public health expert and nodal officer for the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram in GB Nagar, said that intestinal worms frequently cause stomach aches, blood in the stool, travel sickness, and nausea, and hence the deworming tablets will also be handed to teachers and Anganwadi personnel along with the students.
